]]><![CDATA[Is Mueller Part of the Problem?]]>Wed, 24 Jul 2019 04:08:12 GMThttp://www.leonastucky.com/blog/is-mueller-part-of-the-problemI cannot abide what is happening with the Mueller investigation.  People are wondering if Mueller will reveal anything more in his congressional testimony than he has already said. Some Democrats are hopeful that Mueller will enlighten us about Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors. 

I think Mueller has already betrayed us, the people who are critical of Trump.  I think he was as lenient as anyone could possibly be with Trump and he failed to exploit the resources to find the truth.  After this failure he dismissed the notion that collusion had happened.  He should have said that with his limited approach and without investigating nearly all the potential evidence, he can only say that he did not find the fully conclusive evidence that collusion happened, but it seemed highly probable that it did. 

Why did he not investigate the financial records? Likely they would show many Russian connections that could have impacted the rest of the investigation and given many leads. 

Why did he not have Trump testify before his investigatory team?

Why did he not investigate the key players that are in Trump’s family and make them testify? 

Why did he give Trump the easy excuse that he might not have known the law regarding the Russian interference with Hillary’s emails?  Trump has lawyers galore all around him and he was a candidate running for President.  Not knowing is hardly a legal excuse.  Furthermore, when he made his plea to Russia to find the emails, everyone told him that was illegal, and he should inform the FBI if anything like that happened.  He did not inform the FBI.  He was guilty of collusion right there.  He knew what he was required to do, and he didn’t do it. 

There are other examples of Mueller’s giveaways to Trump.  I don’t have time to be an investigation junky so I can’t recite them now from memory. Furthermore, I’m not an attorney, so I have an outsider’s view that may or may not represent any legal legitimacy. 

In this situation, what is true is paramount in my mind.  If Trump is a Russian asset and is steadily trading American well-being for Russian interests, then that is what we must deal with – not whether some legal tricks make it seem one way or another. Sooner or later the consequences of that reality will catch us, if Trump is a traitor.  If we are on the Titanic, we need to know now.  Why are we not asking the right questions to find the correct answer? 

What is also distressing now is that it seems that Trump and Barr have stopped the ongoing investigations that Mueller handed to other jurisdictions.  Will they question Mueller about that tomorrow?  I hope so.  Who circumscribed his investigation?  Was that his choice or someone else’s?  Who is circumscribing the investigations that have been handed to other jurisdictions and how is that being done? 

It looks to me like this whole Mueller investigation was set to fail from the beginning.  Remember how the Republicans set the terms for the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh?  It was doomed to fail from the beginning because it was circumscribed.  They did not question Kavanaugh because they did not want to put him in the position of lying to the FBI. They did not question Blasey Ford, though she wanted to be questioned, because then they would have had to have questioned Kavanaugh to make it seem fair.  In that situation the FBI investigation was itself a scam designed to defeat truth or justice.  I think perhaps the same is true of the Mueller investigation.  It was designed from the beginning to not go far enough to establish facts that would make the key difference.  And, in large measure it worked.  People could no longer talk about Trump as a Russian asset or a traitor because Mueller squelched that speculation.

Perhaps Mueller will come clean and really tell us what happened.  But I doubt it.  He has not so far.  And I wonder if the Democrats will ask him the hard questions or if they will keep their polite gloves on, waiting for any crumbs Mueller might through their way.  Remember how the FBI investigation of Kavanaugh finally shut people up and let the gross miscarriage of justice slide on by?  Will it happen again?  Will tomorrow’s testimony be the nails on the already closed coffin?  Will we sink because we didn’t have the courage to find out whether Trump is a Russian asset?]]><![CDATA[Be Involved in D.V. My efforts, lately, have focused on stopping intimate partner violence all across this nation.  Just this week in Santa Fe, I read in our local paper - a man murdered his intimate partner and then himself.  Several weeks ago in Albuquerque, another person murdered an intimate partner and her mother before killing himself. The grief, sorrow and loss of life drains us all and takes down families and friends. For every one woman who is murdered, 9 others are almost killed. This occurrence is so common that we expect to hear of it over and over again.

Must we, as human beings, choose to abuse or murder our intimate partners? Communities can end this pattern and can show how to create positive relationships, or to end them peacefully.
